How many long days can the crew run and still land inside the bid?
| Shift | Crew hrs/day | Job must be done in | Compared to the bid |
|---|
Every bid assumes 8-hour days. Job must be done in is how many days the crew has at that shift length to meet bid hours.
Long days pay overtime (1.5× after 8 hours, 2× after 12), so each long day costs more than the hours it buys. That's why 12-hour days don't just shrink the schedule by a third. The crew has to get the work done faster than that.
